AISFA Seattle Events

Thanks Jason for a great demo of his Flash puppet animation techniques last month. I learned a lot about nesting symbols and different symbol types. I've already used the info on a job.

January

White Elephant Socializer & Interactive Clay Animation
Jan 21 7-10 PM
Rendezvous Red Velvet Lounge
2322 2nd Ave, Seattle, WA 98121
21+ venue

Socialize and network with local animators. Bring partners and friends, we promise not to bore them. ;)

Lukas Allenbaugh from Clay Animation Network www.cancancancan.com will join us to create of an interactive clay animation. Think Ani-Jam with clay instead of drawing! Come experiment with the medium that has given birth to Gumby, Wallace & Gromit, Closed Mondays and Mr. Bill.

If you desire to participate in the White Elephant, bring a wrapped, unlabeled present. Gifts should be inexpensive ($10 or less). They can be humorous items, something you received as a christmas present that you'll be glad to be rid of... or while you're out holiday shopping, keep an eye out for something funny an animator would like. It's lots of fun and great way to get to know everyone.

We'll post more details on the forum soon White Elephant Socalizer.

Everyone over 21 is welcome. Bring guests! Food and Drink will be available for purchase.

February

Ani-Jam & Contest Screening
Feb 18 7-10 PM
Rendezvous Red Velvet Lounge
2322 2nd Ave, Seattle, WA 98121
21+ venue

It's back, the ever popular Ani-Jam. No pencil tests here, we go straight to ink. We'll supply the light tables, pens and camera. All you need to do is show up for an evening of drawing, drinking, food, fun and socializing!

Everyone at the Ani-Jam will have the chance to draw 10 frames of animation. We'll have 4 or 5 light tables set-up to keep things moving along. Someone draws 10 frames to start. Then the drawings are handed to the next person who adds 10 frames of their own. The drawings keep getting passed from animator to animator. After everyone has had a chance or two to draw, we'll add some tweens to tie all the stacks together. The drawings will be digitized right there. Then at the end of the evening we'll screen the animation.

While people are drinking and drawing, we'll watch the submissions from the ...

Animation Contest

Make Way! Make Way! for Our first Animation Contest!

The theme is Presidents in Compromising Positions in honor of President's week.

Submit your short (very short, 15 seconds, maybe less?—3 minutes in length) animation. Any medium accepted. If you send us a Flash or Quicktime file, we'll post it on the contest page. Entries will be screened at the Ani-Jam.

Have fun, and don't take it too seriously!

We will run the contest quarterly and screen them at the Ani-Jams.
