The movie 9 comes out on Sept 9th - 9/9/09.  I am determined to see it THAT day no matter what.  It's on our calendar, so I'm openining a topic here so that we can all determine a good theater to see it at.  Perhaps a central Seattle location would be good so that those of us south and those of us north don't have to drive too far.

Cheesy  I'm in.  I'll go so far as to suggest a 7pm-ish show.  Not too late, not too early!

I'm willing to go almost anywhere and happy to carpool/pay for gas if it's convenient for anyone else!  I could offer my car, but I'm guessing anyone else's would have more power and be more comfortable than mine...

So ... Downtown Seattle?  U-district?  Northgate?  Capitol Hill?

Any preferences?

I am DEFINITELY in for this one. I've been following the production of this movie for some time. I remember stumbling upon Shane Acker's website a long time ago when this was just a one man short film and he only had a few snippets from his short film. But I was really impressed with the world he had created and the animation. Pretty cool that his little short got picked up to be made into a full length feature!

I agree, let's go see it opening night. And a 7-ish showing sounds good. I'm willing to drive wherever. The rest of the Bad Alien crew will probably come as well.

According to Landmark Seattle's website:  http://www.landmarktheatres.com/Market/Seattle/Seattle_Frameset.htm
(scroll down -- it's below the Midnight Madness listings)

9

Starts Wednesday, September 9 at Neptune Theatre

Student Academy Award winner Shane Acker directs his first feature, an animated fantasy epic produced by Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov. When 9 (voiced by The Lord of the Rings' Elijah Wood) first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world. All humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers a community of other small creatures like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the landscape intent on doing them harm. Despite being the neophyte of the group, 9 convinces the others that hiding will do them no good. They must take the offensive if they are ever to survive, and they must discover why the machines want to destroy them in the first place. As they'll soon come to learn, the very future of civilization may depend on them. Also featuring the voices of Jennifer Connelly, Martin Landau, Christopher Plummer, John C. Reilly, Crispin Glover and Fred Tatasciore.

Film's website:  http://www.filminfocus.com/focusfeatures/film/9/splash/

The Neptune is in the U-district, at Brooklyn Ave and 45th St.  The showtimes will likely be posted by this Friday.  I'm still in for a 7pm-ish show.

According to the Seattle PI online, 9 is playing in Bellevue and in the U-district:

Showtimes for Wed, Sept 9th are...

Lincoln Square Cinemas
11:30, 12:40, 1:45, 2:55, 4:00, 5:15, 6:15, 7:25, 8:30, 9:35, 10:40

Neptune Theatre
1:10, 3:20, 5:30, 7:40, 9:50
Dolby Stereo Digital - No Passes

The Neptune is closer to me, but I'm willing to go to Bellevue and carpool to either location!  Anyone else?

I'm planning to see it with my family (wife and 2 kids) at the Neptune 5:30 showing (they'll be back in school so we can't do later.) I hope some of you can join us.

I don't think I can get to the Neptune by 5:30, so I'll probably just see the 7:40 showing along with Mish and whoever else makes it to that showing. Lindaloo? Bob? Natt? Steve? Are you all in for a 7:40 showing at the Neptune? Anyone else? Beuller?

I'll make it to the 7:40 show at the Neptune.  We can meet at the box office at 7:15-7:25.  Hopefully it won't be raining.

ALL ARE WELCOME TO JOIN US!

Well holy cow - 9 is TOMORROW.  I got sucked into 3 days of Bumbershoot and am now crawling out from under my rock to face the sun.  But I've been excited to see this one!!!!

I'll make it to the 7:40 at the Neptune.  I'd love to meet at that same coffee place about an hour before.  I don't know all that much about this film and would love to hear some info on the making and such.  You said you'd been following that, David.

LeoBro - it'd be nice to see it with you because I'll have my kids, too, but I am awful at squeezing things in around dinner.  I'm just going to have to keep them up past bedtime... bad mom!   just get them a coffee before the show... (kidding!)

Ha-ha. On the "bad parent" scale, we just believe in popcorn for dinner!  Anyway, there is a possibility we'll bail. I read that it's very scary for kids, and we have an 8 year old daughter who doesn't like that stuff. But she saw the trailer and wants to see the movie. So, we'll see!

It's rated PG-13, I'm not taking my 7 year old to it. She walked in when I was watching the trailer and talked about "the nothing" coming to get her for the rest of the day.

I didn't notice until later the trailer was rated "for appropriate audiences", normally trailers are rated "for all audiences".

That combined with it being her first day at a new school tomorrow, I'm not going to make this month.

Sorry

Doh!  Going to miss this one - annoying work event this week.  But looking forward to the next one....would that be Avatar later this fall or 'cloudy with a chance of meatballs' sooner?

Hey lindaloo, David, Fleabag, and anyone else going to the 7:40 show at the Neptune...

Meeting at the coffee shop near the Neptune before the show is a great idea.  It's called Trabant.  Here's a link to their location...  http://maps.google.com/maps?f=l&hl=en&sll=47.661507,-122.314085&sspn=0.003721,0.006813&q=Trabant+Coffee+And+Chai&near=&ie=UTF8&om=1

It's near the Zanadu Comics Shop -- can't miss their sign.  It's also near the Neptune, which is on 45th St. at Brooklyn Ave.

I'll aim to be at Trabant by 6:45pm.  It'd be great to hear what you know about "9", David!

Ok, I'll see you at the Trabant coffee shop as soon as I can get there. Sometime between 6:45 and 7pm most likely.
