Join us for a White Elephant Exchange at the Rendezvous Red Velvet Lounge (21+ venue) on Jan 21 7-10 PM.

Bring a wrapped, unlabeled present.  Gifts should be inexpensive ($10 or less).  They can be humorous items, something you received as a christmas present that you'll be glad to be rid of... or while you're out holiday shopping, keep an eye out for something funny an animator would like.  It's lots of fun and great way to get to know everyone.

Everyone over 21 is welcome. Bring guests! Food and Drink will be available for purchase.

Here's how to play:
All participants will draw a number.  Whoever drew number 1 will pick a wrapped item from the table and open it.  Each successive player, in numerical order, can either:
1) go for a wrapped gift from the pile or
2) "steal" a gift from someone who has already opened a gift.
If the person chooses to steal, the person whose gift is stolen now repeats his/her turn and either 1) steals another person's gift (he/she cannot immediately steal back the gift that was stolen from them) or 2) unwrap a new gift from the table.
Since stealing can sometimes go on forever if there is a really cool gift, an item is "dead" or "safe" after it has been stolen 3 times - meaning the 3rd person to steal it gets to keep it.

This game may sound strange, but it always gets a lot of laughs!!  I hope you all decide to join.

If you do not want to participate, please still come socialize with us.  You can use that time to play with the claymation station....

Hey guys!
Sorry, but I won't be able to make it to the White Elephant Social this week. It just so happens that my wife won FREE tickets to a concert on THE SAME NIGHT! We'll be watching Hikaru Utada perform at The Showbox while you enjoy exchanging gifts and doing claymation. Too bad I can't do both. Oh well, there's always next time.

Speaking of next time, I'm putting the finishing touches on my "Presidents In Compromising Positions" animation for the contest in February. I'll definitely be attending the Anijam on 2/18 at the Rendezvous. Looking forward to see you all there!

Thanks to everyone who came to the social!  I scored an excellent Napkin Sketchbook, Spy Pen (with invisible ink & black light), and way fun-looking Crazy Monster Mirror Clings.  But it wasn't about the loot, it was about the people:

Thanks to Lukas Allenbaugh from Clay Animation Network www.cancancancan.com for his demonstrations, explanations, and equipment to let us all play with clay animation.  He's got a portable studio and teaches animation to kids and adults.  It was a great pleasure to meet him and I hope to see him at more ASIFA Seattle events!

Thanks to Linda for organizing the whole thing!  I think it was a great success and another feather in her cap as an Events Coordinator.

It was also nice to welcome Gregory - a friendly fellow with a thing for unusual events.  Hope to see him at future events, too.

February's ASIFA event is an anijam!!!  See everyone there!

Thanks to all who attended our event.  Some good energy - and some experimental hands on animation thanks to Lukas of Clay Animation Network (www.cancancancan.com) - THANKS LUKAS!

We had 168 view for this event's post - so all those of you who didn't come - don't be shy!  It's kick back, easy going.  Come hang out!!  We're building a great network here - be a part of it!  We'll see you in February for the Anijam!
