My presentation went very well last week at the Seattle Flash Users Group! I enjoyed sharing my work and talking about character animation with those who attended.
I'll keep checking this forum for upcoming events. See you all soon!

Aw, man, I'd have loved to go to that! I have signed up for the Seattle Flash Users Group, but I never get emails about their events. Do they send them out, or are we just supposed to check in on the site?

They're not good at contacting people about upcoming events. Unfortunately, you have to keep checking their website to see what's coming up. Usually Keith (the leader of the group) posts the upcoming month's announcement sometime after the first week of the month. I just checked, and there isn't any update yet for October's meeting. Keep checking at: http://groups.adobe.com/groups/a9be9ae399/summaryYes, that's too bad you missed it. I'd have loved to have you attend! Perhaps if you and others are interested, maybe I can give my presentation to the ASIFA group? It might be a fun way for us to share our experiences creating character animation in Flash.

Hi Jason,
I'm disappointed I missed your presentation at the Seattle Flash Users Group. If your offer to repeat it for the ASIFA group still stands, I'd attend it!! What kind of equipment/space/setup would you need to make your presentation?
Any other ASIFA Seattle forum users interested?
Mish

Hi Mish, Yes! My offer to repeat my presentation on creating character animation in Flash to the ASIFA group still stands! Thank you for your interest in attending. All I would need is a table/podium to place my laptop on and speak from, and some kind of device to project my screen on the wall for all to see. That's it! The duration is about 50 minutes long. During my presentation, I welcome questions and feedback from the group. We can all compare our techniques and learn from each other! You can read more about my presentation here: http://groups.adobe.com/groups/a9be9ae399/summary

I missed the Flash User Group meeting too. They've had some good speakers there. Tony White presented a couple years back, and they've had some nice After Effects demos.
I'm on the SFUG mailing list, but in digest mode, so they send out the meeting notice late the night before, and I get it about a half hour after the meeting starts. They are in the process of switching to Adobe for the website hosting, so it's a bit confusing now.
We'd like to have some demos and educational meetings. We've got the Animation Show of Shows in October, but I don't think we have anything scheduled for November yet. I'll mention your offer to Linda our events coordinator.

Thanks for forwarding my request to Linda. Is that the same Linda who posts here as "lindaloo?" If anyone wants to get in touch with me about making arrangements for my presentation, please feel free to contact me directly. jason@aandjstudios.comphone: (718) 596-5917

Yes, that is me - lindaloo - Events Coordinator Extrodinaire! I will definitely hook something up for November!! This could be the beginning of a great trend. I know some people interested in Flash that would come for that, and hopefully that could boost interest in ASIFA as well. There are libraries that have projectors and offer free meeting rooms. Of course, it's always more fun in a bar and David has a great projector. I'll feel out the situation and contact you thru the email you listed. I'll let you know what I find out by Show of Shows, if not earlier.

Hey Jason, if you've got any inside scoops on upcoming Seattle Flash Users Group meetings, could you post them here or set up a new thread to remind us here about them? Here's what's coming up for the next meeting... (lifted off their website http://groups.adobe.com/groups/a9be9ae399/summary ) Next Meeting Tuesday October 27th, Shawn Noyes - Introduction to AS3
Our next speaker is Shawn Noyes. If you don't know Shawn, he is an easy going self taught coder. I think he is going to do a great job explaining the basics of AS3, if you're a designer or just started getting interest in Flash I strongly reccomend coming and listening to Shawn speak.
Topic: Details will be coming, but I can tell you it is going to be an introduction to ActionScript 3.
