Anyone have advice on image-capture equipment?  I'm looking to get Digicel Flipbook to do my own animation exercises and studies, although I'd consider other packages instead.  Digicel's website recommends capturing images with either a USB or FireWire webcam, or for better quality but more cost a Mini DV camcorder.  Anyone have advice on these tools?  A pros/cons list would be really helpful.

Also, I'm wondering what setup we've used at the anijams.  What kind of camera and what software?  What compatibility issues do I need to consider?  I think Steve took the last anijam drawings home to digitize... Steve, what's your setup at home?  If I get my own equipment, I'd be happy to bring it to use at future anijams.

Please share here.  Thanks!

I found this on Landmark's website.  It sounds like a great film for animation history buffs and anyone interested in the Disney Story.  Only $3 at the Crest!

Scheduled on Friday at 7pm and 9:10pm
Scheduled on Sat & Sun at 2pm, 4:10pm, 7pm, and 9:10pm
Scheduled for Mon-Thurs at 7pm and 9:10pm

Waking Sleeping Beauty is no fairytale. It is a story of clashing egos, out of control budgets, escalating tensions... and one of the most extraordinary creative periods in animation history. Director Don Hahn and producer Peter Schneider, key players at Walt Disney Studios Feature Animation department during the mid-1980s, offer a behind-the-magic glimpse of the turbulent times the Animation Studio was going through and the staggering output of hits that followed over the next ten years. Artists polarized between the hungry young innovators and the old guard who refused to relinquish control, mounting tensions due to a string of box office flops, and warring studio heads create the backdrop for this fascinating story told with a unique and candid perspective from those that were there. Through interviews, internal memos, home movies, and a cast of characters featuring Michael Eisner, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and Roy Disney, alongside an amazing array of talented artists that includes Don Bluth, John Lasseter, and Tim Burton, Waking Sleeping Beauty shines a light on Disney Animation's darkest hours, greatest joys and its improbable renaissance. There is an article about ASIFA in this month's Animation Magazine entitled "ASIFA Celebrates 50 Years of Giving to the Animation Community".  Check it out!

The first paragraph gives some background:
"ASIFA, the International Animated Film Association, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.  Having received its charter under UNESCO in 1960 with only a handful of members, today it has grown to around 6,000 members in 58 countries around the world.  It was originally founded in France as ASIFA (Association Internationale du Film D'Animation)."

It lists ASIFA's goals as "provide opportunities for professionals to network globally" and "sustaining and preserving the rights of animators and the art of animation".
